You have a business and trying to find a way to promote it right? Simple, start a blog. A blog isn’t just about writing content but you should be able to make money from it.
It is in fact one of the essential content marketing strategies for both small and big businesses.
In this article, I will guide you through 7 powerful steps on how to make money blogging in 2019. Let’s get started.
1. Find Profitable Niche
First of all, finding a profitable niche means finding a market or online business idea that is viable, profitable, and that you personally can compete in .
That’s right. But you must be wondering, I already have my business running, why should I go finding another business or niche to write about?
Well, in blogging, specially in 2019, the situation has changed a lot. According to the stats, there are over 505 million blogs on the internet in 2018. That’s a huge number.
If your business is already a so-called “profitable niche”, then you are good to go ahead and write about what you already know or working on.
But if it’s not, then you should consider researching topics which are trending or already have a large number of people interesting in it.
Use tool like Google Trends to research on topics which are trending. You may write a blog about your favorite hobbies, interests, activities you are passionate about etc. But make sure it is a so-called “profitable niche.”
2. Content Is The King
If you want to make money blogging in 2019, you have to really focus on content.
As mentioned earlier, a number of blogs on the internet is very huge. You have to be able to write good and unique content if you want to stand out from the crowd.
When writing a blog, use quality images (Not Google stock images), infographics and videos.

Try providing extra information and values which is more than most of your competitors do.
For example: If your blog is about online marketing, and most of your competitors provide less than 15 points of information, you may try to add 6-7 points more.

3. Promote The Right Way
When you start blogging, getting traffic is overwhelming, getting the the right traffic is even more difficult.
In today’s world, information can be shared instantly with a matter of a click. Want to promote something? Dump it onto social media.
Send it through emails. Promote it using ads etc. One thing to keep in mind is, you may get traffics but they may not generate money.
From the data shown above, most of traffics come from either Google or Facebook.
Here are two questions to guide you:
- Is your topic something your friends and family regularly talk about on Facebook? Examples: pets, parenting, self-improvement, and health. If so, focus on playing the viral traffic sport.
- Is your topic something people actively search for information about on Google? Examples: product reviews, specific questions they would ask an expert, how-to information. If so, focus on SEO.
Decide your main source of traffics and focus on them. You can share it on multiple platforms, but in the end, focus on the one which works the most.

4. Sell Products Or Services
If you are writing a blog related to your business products, you can sell them by creating a small online shopping section if your blog writing service provides you. If you are using WordPress as your platform, simply use the plugin called “WooCommerce”.
Otherwise, you can have a page which links to your online shopping website or Shopify shops.
For selling services, you may have a page which describes about your services, price range and a contact form which the readers can contact you regarding the same.
5. Include Affiliate Links
If the fourth option doesn’t apply to you ( In case you are writing a blog about other thing than your business), then this point is definitely something you can easily apply.
Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest method you can generate money online with very little effort.
With the help of blog, it creates a trusted environment for buyer to click on the link, rather than spamming the long strings of affiliate URLs all over the social media. You may write about an article on how to create website, and have an affiliate link to hosting provider.
6. Create A Subscription Plan
For those who don’t know what a subscription plan is, basically it’s a way which allows your readers to subscribe for your contents by trading things like money or email address.
The contents could be something exclusive, unique and worth exchanging for. The purpose of doing so is to build up personal connections with your readers. Once you obtain readers’ email address, you can send them exclusive newsletter, content, business connections etc. This is know as email marketing.

7. Integrate Ads
Nowadays, ads have ruled the world on internet. PewDiePie, one of the most famous YouTube channel, is estimated to generate almost half a million per month through ads alone. It’s really an era where ads have dominated the market.
You too, can integrate ads onto your blog. The most easy to use ads is Google Adsense.
How ads monetization works is once you sign up for ads provider like Google Adsense, they will generate ads, which other companies or organizations paid them to promote. The ads generated will match the content of your site. For instance, if you write about online marketing, ads generated will be about online marketing agency, companies etc.
You can then choose where to display ads on your page or blog. You get paid every time anyone clicks on the ads. The revenue generate per click varies on different factors, average being about $0.15-$0.3.
